Model Q Rumors Swirling - Too Good to be True?
A sub-$30,000 Tesla, dubbed the Model Q, is reportedly hitting the streets early next year. Color me skeptical. While rumors out of China suggest a smaller, lighter EV with impressive specs and a shockingly low price point, several things feel off. First, a supposed investor relations leak seems unlikely. Second, Tesla previously shelved plans for a cheaper vehicle built on the new unboxed platform. Third, Model Q? Really?
Even with my doubts, it’s fun to speculate. If these rumors hold even a shred of truth, what impact would a sub-$30,000 Tesla have on the EV market? Would it finally be the catalyst for mass adoption, or simply cannibalize sales from the Model 3 and Y? And what features would likely be sacrificed to achieve such a low price?
More importantly, should we even be excited about another cheaper EV, or should Tesla be focusing its resources on improving its existing lineup and expanding its charging infrastructure? Lets discuss!
