Just bought a used Countryman and the gearbox is already acting weird, please tell me this isn't going to bankrupt me
I was so excited to finally pick up a 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman S from a seller over in Abu Shagara last weekend because it seemed like the perfect little runabout for zipping around Sharjah and parking in the tiny spots near my apartment but now I'm sitting here on day four of ownership feeling like an absolute mug because the automatic gearbox has started doing this really jerky thing when I slow down to a crawl and sometimes it feels like it's slipping for a second before it decides to engage first gear and I'm just praying it's something simple like low fluid or a software glitch rather than the entire transmission preparing to self destruct. The previous owner swore blind it had just been serviced and he seemed like a genuine guy but he got a bit vague when I asked specifically about the gearbox oil change history and now I'm kicking myself for not being more thorough before I handed over my hard earned cash. I spent last night doom scrolling through Mini forums and there's a lot of chatter about the Aisin unit being pretty robust but also needing proper maintenance and a few people mentioned a place that handles
Mini Cooper Gearbox Repair Sharjah over in Industrial Area 3 that apparently knows these cars inside out and doesn't just throw a new transmission at the problem like the big garages do. I'm going to limp it over there tomorrow morning with my hazards on and a whole lot of hope because I really don't want my first Mini experience to end with me selling it for parts in Al Sajaa, anyone else had a similar scare with their R60 and come out the other side without a massive bill?
